If I'm not mistaken, James Camerons name had been thrown into the mix at one point to possibly direct. Obviously he's too busy with Avatar 2, 3 and wholly shit there may even be a 4th, which according to him will all be 'bitchin'. Like really? Bitchin? Who the fuck uses that word anymore? Is anyone even excited for Avatar 2? The first was basically Pocahontas with blue people. Cameron's movies may be visual candy for he eyes, that I won't take away from him, but in terms of story telling, he doesn't produce anything worth a standing ovation, so please don't tell me he deserved an Oscar for Avatar, or Titanic for that matter.
Anyway I'm side-tracking, back to The Jolie. Rudin basically wanted to shut her master plan down. Now don't be mistaken, Rudin is no angel himself. Remember the cafeteria map in Mean Girls that dictated where everybody should sit? Well, if we had a Hollywood version, Rudin would sit firmly on the ass-hole table with guys like Harvey Weinstein, but you know what, I'm glad he resisted the ethereal powers of The Jolie and said HELL NO!
I hope that Cleopatra does get made, but with an EGYPTIAN actress, just to make The Jolie sit her ass down! If there's anything that pisses me off about Hollywood, it's the way they like to re-write history. It's difficult to know for sure what the early Egyptians looked like, but they sure as hell were not White! You hear that Rupert Murdoch. But as far as Hollywood is concerned, the only person capable of playing one of the most iconic female leaders and seducers in history is a white women, hence the choice to pick Liz Taylor in the last major re-telling of Cleopatra's story.
I've always respected Angelina's tact, as a showbiz newbie, I know there's a lot to be learnt from her and I study her every move like a text book. She's a master manipulator and incredibly calculated, which in this business, are not bad traits, particularly if you're a woman in a sea full of men who look at you as nothing more than Tuesdays potential fuck-piece. But erasing the history of another group of people, that's not acceptable and in light of the controversy surrounding Ridley Scotts Exodus, I hope that this is the last time this type of White-washing occurs. The notion carried by the masters of Hollywood that global audiences wouldn't go to see the movie, or investors wouldn't have put up the money if white actors weren't playing the leads, is not only ridiculous, it plays into what we've always known about Hollywood - it's a very racist place. Thankfully, more and more people, of all races notibly, are starting to say this more frequently and louder than ever.
Nevertheless of course, The Jolie is desperate for the role of Cleo, it would be the cherry on the cake for her, right? I mean think about it, she probably already considers herself some sort of modern day Cleopatra for seducing Brad Pitt, who in my opinion, could probably be seduced by a bowl of cereal.
When news of a potential affair between the two surfaced, instead of running away from the Home-wrecker/Jezebel tag, she seemling embraced it and used it to her advantage, moulding it into the new image she was carving.

Meanwhile......somewhere else in LaLa Land, post the affair between The Jolie and Brad Pitt, The Aniston and her agent The Huvane decided to get her to play the role of the victim, the scorned woman every female that's ever been cheated on would side with.

Nope, she's been too busy breaking the box office, saving the world with The UN and having lunch with William Hauge and POTUS. The Aniston on the other hand has been stuck with low-brow Rom-Coms that seem to mirror her life. Although recently......she seems to be breaking out of that.

Since the Sony hack though, a quick scan of the comment sections on news articles would suggest people are forgetting her charitable efforts and turning on her. Is her power slipping? Are people wising upto her PR games?
